BrightLocal vs Local Falcon

BrightLocal starts at $41 a month, Local Falcon at $24.99 for a geo-grid across 8 AI surfaces. Both track AI visibility, differently.

Updated September 21, 2026

BrightLocal is a full local SEO platform starting at $41 a month, and Local Falcon is a geo-grid scanning tool starting at $24.99 a month. Both are built for local businesses, both now report AI visibility, and most people comparing them are asking the wrong question, because the two products overlap on one feature and diverge on everything else.

What each tool is built to do

BrightLocal is a local marketing platform that has been sold for over fifteen years. Its job is to keep a business findable and well regarded across the surfaces local customers use: local rankings, citation accuracy, the Google Business Profile, and reviews. BrightLocal says it serves more than 15,000 platform customers. AI visibility arrived as a new module inside that platform, not as its reason for existing.

Local Falcon is a measurement instrument built around one idea: visibility is not a single number, it is a map. Drop a grid of points across a service area, check each point, and draw the result as a heat map. Everything else in the product hangs off that scan, including the newer AI features, which run the same grid model against AI surfaces.

The difference is not feature count, it is shape. BrightLocal is broad and shallow on any given question. Local Falcon is narrow and deep on one question. Neither of those is a criticism.

What they cost today

Read off each vendor's own pricing page on 21 September 2026.

BrightLocal, at one location:

PlanMonthlyBilled annuallyAnnual total
Track$41$31/mo$369, saving $123
Manage$54$40/mo$485, saving $163
Grow$65$49/mo$584, saving $196

Annual billing saves 25 percent. Pricing scales by locations managed, from one to 100 or more. There is a 14-day free trial with full access and no credit card. Citation Builder is separate and pay as you go from $2 a citation. The fully managed SEO service is $1,299 a month.

Local Falcon:

PlanMonthlyCredits a monthAnnualCredits a year
Starter$24.997,500$299.8890,000
Basic$49.9915,150$599.88183,000
Pro$99.9931,250$1,199.88383,000
Premium$199.9963,150$2,399.88778,000

A credit is one data point, one map pin on the grid. New accounts get 100 free credits. A Falcon AI analysis report costs 25 credits. Falcon Agent is included on every paid plan and the Claude Connector adds no fee, though it consumes credits for the scans it runs.

The headline comparison, $24.99 against $41, is misleading in both directions. BrightLocal's flat fee is predictable and includes far more product. Local Falcon's credits are cheaper to start and can be exhausted quickly by large grids.

Geo-grid: where the two really differ

Both products have a geo-grid. They are not the same feature.

BrightLocal's geo-grid is included in Track and covers up to five keywords. It exists to visualise local rankings alongside the rest of your local SEO data.

Local Falcon's geo-grid is the product. Grid sizes run from 3 by 3, costing 9 credits a scan, to 21 by 21, costing 441. You choose the density, the radius and the frequency. There is no keyword cap beyond what your credits buy.

The practical consequence, using Starter's 7,500 credits a month:

  • At a 7 by 7 grid, 49 credits a scan, you get about 153 scans a month.
  • At a 13 by 13 grid, 169 credits a scan, about 44 scans.
  • At a 21 by 21 grid, 441 credits a scan, about 17 scans.

So if your work is five keywords visualised occasionally, BrightLocal's grid is enough and you are getting it inside a much larger product. If your work is dense grids across many keywords, or proving coverage at the edge of a catchment, Local Falcon is the only one of the two that can do it, and the credit maths above is the number to plan against.

AI search coverage

This is the clearest win for Local Falcon, and it is worth being precise about.

Local Falcon states coverage of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Apple Intelligence and Google AI Overviews, with daily-refreshed AI search data, brand mention tracking with source attribution, competitor visibility comparison and gap analysis.

BrightLocal includes the Local AI Visibility Tracker in every plan, including Track at $41 a month, and describes it on the pricing page as showing how your business appears across ChatGPT and Google's AI surfaces. Perplexity is not named there. AI Insights, which produces prioritised actions, starts on the Manage plan at $54 a month.

Seven named AI surfaces against two named families is a real gap. Against that, BrightLocal includes its AI tracker at no marginal cost in a plan you might buy anyway, while Local Falcon spends credits on every AI scan you run, and Falcon AI reports cost 25 credits each on top.

What each one actually hands you

Neither tool produces markup you paste on your website, which is worth saying plainly before either vendor's marketing implies otherwise.

BrightLocal hands you workflows. Citation Builder actually creates and cleans listings from $2 each. Google Business Profile post scheduling publishes posts. Review campaigns send the emails and texts. Grow publishes reviews on your own website. AI Insights gives prioritised actions. These are real operations, not just readings.

Local Falcon hands you evidence. Heat maps, AI Review Analysis, competitor gap analysis, recommendations, and Falcon Agent for automated workflows. It is the stronger diagnostic and the weaker set of hands.

If your problem is that nothing is getting done, BrightLocal does more of it. If your problem is that you cannot see clearly, Local Falcon shows you more.

Cost at scale for an agency

The billing models diverge in a way that matters once you pass a few clients.

BrightLocal prices per location. The pricing page runs a slider from one location to 100 or more, and the figures in this article are the single-location case. Cost rises with the number of businesses you manage, which is predictable and easy to pass through to a client.

Local Falcon prices per credit, pooled at the account level. Ten locations draw from the same monthly credit allowance. That means a quiet client subsidises a busy one, which is efficient if your scanning load is uneven and dangerous if every client wants a weekly 15 by 15 grid.

The rough rule: BrightLocal's cost scales with how many clients you have, Local Falcon's with how much you scan. An agency with many low-touch clients tends to prefer Local Falcon's pooling. An agency with a few high-touch clients tends to prefer BrightLocal's flat per-location fee.

Which one to choose

Choose BrightLocal if:

  • You want one subscription covering rankings, citations, Google Business Profile and reviews, with AI visibility included rather than surcharged.
  • Reviews matter to you. Requesting, responding and publishing are on Grow at $49 a month annually, and Local Falcon has no equivalent.
  • Your citations are inconsistent. Citation Builder at $2 each actually fixes them.
  • You want a predictable flat bill instead of a credit balance to watch.
  • You might want the work done for you. The $1,299 a month managed service is a real option.

Choose Local Falcon if:

  • The map is the deliverable. Nothing in BrightLocal produces a dense grid, and a before-and-after heat map is the most persuasive artefact in local SEO.
  • You need broad AI engine coverage. Eight surfaces against two, at a lower entry price.
  • You have service-area questions. Whether coverage reaches the next town is a coordinate question and only a real grid answers it.
  • You scan a lot across several locations and want pooled capacity rather than per-location fees.
  • You want to start almost free. 100 credits at signup is enough to run several small scans before deciding.

Use both if you are an agency. They are not substitutes, and plenty of local SEO teams run BrightLocal for the programme and Local Falcon for the proof. Combined at entry tiers that is about $66 a month monthly, or $56 with BrightLocal billed annually.

Where AnswerFix fits

Full disclosure: we make AnswerFix, so treat this section as an interested party speaking briefly.

Neither tool above answers one specific question, which is what an AI engine actually said when a customer asked for the best business in your town, and what exact change on your website would alter that answer. BrightLocal tells you whether you appear. Local Falcon maps where. AnswerFix quotes the answer word for word, names the competitors the engine recommended instead of you, and hands you one complete paste-ready fix on the free report, then re-checks in about ten seconds after you publish to confirm it landed. It is free to run and $39 a month after that, and it does not do geo-grids, citations, reviews or Maps rank tracking, so it sits alongside either tool rather than replacing one.

If you want the neutral version of this, the full comparison table lists fifteen tools with verified entry prices, and the pricing landscape sorts every published entry price low to high.
