AI visibility tools compared, with today's real prices

Fourteen AI search visibility tools, plus AnswerFix, compared on entry price, engines covered, local intent support and what the product actually hands you. Every price below was read off the vendor's own pricing page on 21 September 2026. Entry prices run from $20 to $295 a month, and the median is $79.

AnswerFix is one of the fifteen rows, sitting where its price puts it rather than at the top. We have tried to write this page so it stays useful if you finish it and buy something else, because a comparison that only flatters its author is worth nothing to you and, eventually, nothing to us. Where a competitor is better for your situation, that is what the entry says.

The table

Entry price means the cheapest published self-serve monthly plan, before annual discounts. Local intent means whether the product is built to answer "does an engine recommend me in my city" or whether you would have to write those prompts yourself. Where a vendor does not publish a price, the row says so rather than guessing.

What each tool is genuinely good at

One honest paragraph each, including the part that counts against us. Follow any name for a full breakdown with its own side by side table and the case for choosing it over AnswerFix.

Rankscale.ai$20/mo (Essentials)

Rankscale.ai has the lowest number on this page, $20 a month for Essentials, but read the page carefully: Essentials appears only in the feature comparison table, while the three plan cards at the top start at Pro for $99 a month with 1,200 credits, roughly 4,800 AI answers. Credits are spent per engine per query, about 0.25 of a credit each, so the model rewards you for tracking fewer engines. Growth at $385 a month is a real agency tier with white-label options and a REST API. Pro carries a 7-day free trial.

Local Falcon$24.99/mo (Starter)

Local Falcon invented the geo-grid scan most local SEOs now think in, and it has extended that grid to AI surfaces. Starter is $24.99 a month for 7,500 credits, one credit per map pin, and new accounts get 100 free credits. A Falcon AI report costs 25 credits. Nothing else here shows you visibility as a map of your actual service area. The tradeoff is that credits are consumed by scan geometry, so a 21 by 21 grid costs 441 credits per run and budgeting takes practice, and the output is analysis rather than markup you paste.

Otterly.ai$29/mo (Lite)

Otterly.ai has the lowest entry price among the purpose-built AI visibility trackers whose capacity is fully published, $29 a month, and that tier is honest about what it is: 15 search prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with daily tracking, unlimited team members and 1,000 GEO audits a month. Multi-country support covers 50 or more markets. Fifteen prompts is thin if you want to cover several services in several neighbourhoods, and the jump to 100 prompts costs $189 a month, but for one person tracking one brand it is a genuinely fair price.

AnswerFixFree, then $39/mo

AnswerFix asks ChatGPT and Perplexity the local-intent questions your customers actually type, shows you the answer text it got back, and hands you one complete paste-ready fix on the free report. It tracks three engines, not eleven, and it has no geo-grid, no backlink index and no review management. If you want a broad marketing platform, several tools here are better. If you want to know whether AI names you in your city and then get the exact markup that changes it, this is the narrower, cheaper option.

BrightLocal$41/mo (Track)

BrightLocal is the most serious competitor on this page for a local business, and it is fair to say so. Track is $41 a month, or $31 a month billed annually at $369 a year, and the Local AI Visibility Tracker is included in it at no extra charge, alongside local rank tracking for 100 keywords, a five-keyword geo-grid, citation monitoring and a Google Business Profile audit. There is a 14-day free trial with no card. If you want one subscription covering listings, reviews, rankings and AI visibility, BrightLocal beats us on breadth and on annual price.

ZipTie.aiFrom $42.75/mo

ZipTie.ai is the only tool here that lets you build your own plan instead of picking a tier. You choose engines from a list of seven, set how many prompts run daily, weekly and monthly, and the price follows. The Starter preset comes out at $42.75 a month for three engines, and prompts are slots you hold rather than a meter that counts down, which removes most credit anxiety. Seats and projects are unlimited. The 7-day trial takes no card. Content generation is a real add-on at $20 a month per context, and API and MCP access is $10 a month.

Knowatoa$59/mo (Starter)

Knowatoa's unusual move is unlimited sites on every plan, including Starter at $59 a month. For a freelancer or a two-person agency with a handful of small clients, that removes the per-domain multiplication that makes Semrush and Ahrefs expensive at scale. Starter covers ChatGPT, AI Overviews and AI Mode; Growth at $199 a month unlocks all seven services, including Claude, Gemini, Meta AI and Perplexity, plus the reporting stack with API, MCP, Looker Studio and NinjaCat. Its angle leans toward sentiment and brand perception rather than raw mention counts.

LLMrefs$79/mo (All in One)

LLMrefs sells one plan, All in One at $79 a month, and that single price covers every engine it tracks with no per-model surcharges, which is rare here. Its real difference is methodology: you supply SEO keywords rather than prompts, and LLMrefs generates fan-out prompts from real conversations, then aggregates results for statistical significance. Unlimited team members, unlimited projects and unlimited domains on one subscription make it unusually agency-friendly. Geo-targeting covers 50 or more countries and 20 or more languages, but it is country level, not city level, which is the limit for local work.

Peec AI$95/mo (Starter)

Peec AI is the cleanest reporting product in the category. Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, three models of your choosing, daily tracking and unlimited seats, and the seat policy alone makes it cheaper than it looks for a team. Its feature matrix now lists a Local GEO row, so local work is on the roadmap rather than absent. It is a measurement tool: it will tell you where you stand across models, topics and competitors, and it will suggest prompts and topics worth adding, but it does not hand your web person markup to paste.

PromptwatchFree, then $95/mo

Promptwatch runs a free Explore tier and then Essential at $95 a month for 50 prompts, 6,000 responses and 500 agent credits, with a 7-day trial on top. Every paid tier lets you track four models chosen from OpenAI, Perplexity, Google, Claude, Gemini, Meta, DeepSeek and Grok, and MCP plus API access is included even at entry, which is generous. The catch for local work is specific and worth knowing before you buy: Essential and Professional give country level tracking only, and state and city level tracking starts on Business at $579 a month.

Semrush AI Visibility$99/mo per domain

Semrush sells AI Visibility as a Base plan at $99 a month per domain, with 25 custom prompts on daily rankings, mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, competitor and prompt research, and a site audit for AI readiness, plus a 7-day trial. Those 25 prompts can be local if you write them that way. The catch is structural: the price is per domain, so an agency with 10 local clients is looking at roughly $990 a month before anything else. For a single business already inside Semrush, it is a sensible add.

Ahrefs Brand Radar$129/mo (Lite, 5 prompts)

Brand Radar tracks brand mentions and citations across six AI surfaces plus YouTube, TikTok and Reddit, on top of the best link and keyword index in the industry. Ahrefs bundles a small number of tracked AI prompts into its plans: 5 on Lite at $129 a month, 10 on Standard at $249, 20 on Advanced at $449. Beyond that, custom prompt packages run $50, $100 and $250 a month, and the full Brand Radar AI index starts at $199 a month. Crucially, one prompt on one platform in one location is one check, so Ahrefs does treat location as a real dimension.

Scrunch AI$250/mo (Core)

Scrunch AI sells monitoring, site diagnostics and an Agent Experience Platform that reformats your pages for AI crawlers, which is closer to doing the work than most of this list gets. Core is $250 a month for 125 unique prompts, five site audits, one brand workspace and five seats on four engines, with a 7-day free trial. Agency Core is $500 a month and adds pitch workspaces. Sitecore acquired Scrunch in June 2026, so the product is now part of a larger enterprise suite, which matters if you are weighing a multi-year commitment.

AthenaHQFree, then $295/mo

AthenaHQ runs the most generous free tier of any tool here: 300 credits, worth $25 of usage, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot, with no card. That alone makes it worth an afternoon. Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits and visibility across 11 models, and it includes on-page and off-page actions plus a self-learning content optimization agent, so it does more than watch. The gap between free and $295 is the problem for a small local business: there is nothing in between.

ProfoundNot published

Profound is the best-funded name in AI search analytics and its AI Marketer agents go further than reporting: they research, write and report inside the product. As of the check date its pricing page publishes only two brand tiers, a free trial with 10 prompts run once on ChatGPT, and Enterprise at custom pricing behind a demo. Agency buyers get pitch workspaces plus full client workspaces at $399 a month each. If your procurement process expects a demo and a contract, that is a feature. If you are one business wanting a number this afternoon, it is a wall.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI visibility tool is cheapest for a single local business?
Rankscale.ai lists Essentials at $20 a month, Local Falcon Starter is $24.99 and Otterly.ai Lite is $29. BrightLocal Track is $31 a month billed annually, or $41 monthly. AnswerFix Starter is $39 a month after a free score. All checked on 21 September 2026 on the vendors' own pricing pages.
Do any of these tools check local, near me style questions?
BrightLocal, Local Falcon and AnswerFix are built around local intent. LLMrefs geo-targets by country only, and Promptwatch reserves state and city level tracking for its $579 Business tier. The rest track prompts you write yourself, so you can make them local by hand.
Why do your prices differ from other comparison articles?
Because we re-read every vendor page on 21 September 2026 rather than copying older write-ups. Several prices had moved. Profound no longer publishes a self-serve price at all, BrightLocal Track is $41 monthly rather than $39, and Scrunch now sells a single $250 Core tier for brands.
Should I buy a monitoring tool or a fixing tool?
Buy monitoring if you already know what to change and need to prove movement to a client or a board. Buy a fixing tool if the honest answer is that you do not yet know why an engine skips you. Most of this list monitors. Very few hand your web person something to paste.
